This weekend we celebrated Lincoln and Reagan’s 2nd birthday! Moment to cry that my babies are already two! Today I’m sharing all the fun details from their TWO Wild birthday party! If I’m being honest, I was totally dragging my heels on planning this party. It’s so hard because we just got through Halloween and just a few days later it was their birthday and now it’ll be Thanksgiving and then Macie’s birthday and then Christmas. It’s so much!! But, when it’s all said and done, I’m always happy and it’s totally worth it.
This year, we went with the theme Two Wild and also combined that with elements from the book Where The Wild Things Are. My first step was to design the invitations using the website Canva, as well as some free clip art I found online. They turned out super cute! If you’ve never used Canva, it’s free and so easy to design various graphics.
For the party decor, I was actually able to reuse quite a few items from last year’s Little Red Riding Hood themed party, so now I can justify all those purchases! 😉 I made similar cake stands to last year using the same wood slices but purchased a different style candle holder for the base. I found these cool tree bark candle holders and set the tree slices on top. For the table runner, I purchased a yard of faux fur, ripped it in half and then simply covered the center seam with my wood serving tray (also from last year).
The Food and Drinks
I purchased little chalkboard signs and used a gold rub n’ buff to stain the bottoms. The signs for the food and drinks were also made using Canva and I found the food label ideas on Pinterest. I adore the “Wild Thing Claws” which are actually Bugles! I didn’t even know those still existed!
We had AMAZING cookies, once again from my favorite local cookie shop, One Haute Cookie. The cakes and cupcakes are as usual from my local Albertsons. They always do a great job and I just wanted to keep them simple and white. I made the crown cake toppers from gold party crowns. I glued two together so the gold would be on the inside and out, stapled the backsides to keep them in place and set them on the cakes, easy! The cupcakes were placed in gold and black glitter wrappers and set on wood grain charger plates.
These two had an amazing day and I seriously can’t believe they are already two! I wish I could be one of those amazing blogs with the perfect family photo but hey, this is real life. So, Reagan and I are smiling for you while Andy just smashed a cupcake into Macie’s face, and Lincoln is way too into everything else for a photo!
Happy Birthday to my little monsters and can’t wait to see the wild things this year brings!
