Well, it’s Sunday night and while I didn’t accomplish as much as I would like to this weekend, I did knock a couple things off my list, but more importantly, we had a lot of play time with the kids!
I started Friday night with a little me time, aka I went to Hobby Lobby after work. It was so nice to wander the aisles alone and actually look at what I wanted to look at (Moms, you know what I’m talking about!). I found this cutie and started formulating a plan. I’m not totally sure what it’s supposed to be but it reminds me of birdhouses. I thought it could be a good addition to my pallet air conditioner cover but it needed some color so I bought a little bunch of bright colored flowers to add to it.
On Saturday morning, our neighborhood had a community yard sale, which we probably should have, but did not participate in. The kids and I decided to walk around and check out some sales. The very first house we hit had a bunch of birdhouses for 25 cents each! Total score! So I bought all of them. Not sure yet how I’m going to use them, maybe on the pallets? Still working on that plan. We also scored a little Ariel dress for Macie for $1 which was awesome because she threw a coin into a fountain the other day and that was one of her wishes, so cool!
The big project happening this weekend was the continued work on our patio expansion. My husband and dad wheeled in about 60 wheelbarrows full of dirt to fill in the grass we dug out last weekend. But dirt isn’t very exciting and I didn’t participate in that project, so…..
I did work on painting the pallets. You know when you think something is going to be fast and simple? And then it’s not. Yeah, that sucks. I thought I would get the pallets painted in like 30 minutes but 2 hours later. Ugh. I didn’t really account for painting all the inside pieces that you can see so it was a bit more of a pain than I was anticipating. See what I mean?
I did have a little help though…
I didn’t really have a plan for the color. I found a lightish blue in my garage and knew I wanted it a bit darker so I dumped a can of old black chalk paint into it and came up with more of a navy-ish blue. I kinda dig it. I hung my little art project on it and end result…
After spending the day on the patio and pallets, we decided to take the kids to the local splash pad for a little water time. They had lots of fun with the exception of Reagan, our delicate flower does not like to get wet! 😂 She had more fun in the grass apparently.
What a weekend! Time to begin planning and Pinteresting next weekend’s projects and until then, happy pinning!
